Before one can start to think about the resolutions, one has to think about her past. On the edge of filling another decade, one is animated to think about the last 15 years. What will he or she see?
Maybe nothing. Maybe a lot. But one thing is certain, nothing can be done to revoke the past. (…)
History happens each day. One reads a book realizing that this book is older than himself, which is not a big surprise to any other thinking human, but one will be astonished henceforth by her encountering thoughts. S/he never thought about that ever before. But now in the same process as s/he wonders why s/he has never spent a minute on these crucial, well-known, easy fact, s/he is unable to comprehend her notion. Why does one think about this idea as a very important thing? We will never find out.
One makes history on his own, which we might want to call family history. One is almost 30, has a child or maybe two or three children, is living in a 3-room apartment or in a house next to the same pattern house in a colony which assist to evade every problem in live. Hence, in the same way as her parents did when they were around 30 – young. One has a job which one likes to perform, unfortunately s/he will lose it in the third quarter of this year. But for now we do not want to think about it. For this year s/he thinks s/he should make resolutions. Like so many others out there, s/he will make a handful of resolutions, actually just four, to be able to remember easier: ONE Reading each month at least one book which is not connected to his mindless work. TWO Trying to find a nice hobby which can continue to live even throughout the following year. THREE Enrolling at a gym to be less wobbly for the upcoming hard and unfair years being older. FOUR Accepting that each resolution will not survive longer that four days if one is not willing to work on them. NO! This year will be different!
It will be! But s/he does not know it yet.
The past is the most precious thing we have but one tends to realize it too late. Why do human beings regret? Why are they not able to accept how the past has happened? Is there a gene that tells us “REGRET”? And if people regret, why do only these people show remorse who are actually the good ones? In one cold evening, during the second week of January, one sat in a cozy, comfortable, red armchair next to the TV watching a documentary on the Nazi hunter after the Second World War. Meanwhile one was watching s/he noticed that these men, who were the murderer of 9 to 11 million people, are not at all regretful. S/he sees them sitting in court and trying to vindicate their behavior instead of admitting their fallacy and finally showing a little trace of humanity. “REGRET”, s/he would like to shout at them but they are not human! That is the coldblooded, the most veritable truth. They are only machines with blood running through their pipes. They are simply remorseless. One sits there, inert, calm and stick to her history.
Resolutions of every old and new year: Never forget!
I’m kind of impressed! Keep on writing ( waiting the following of the D Bus), i’ll keep on reading.
